Hamas Hostages Featured in Oversized Milk Cartons during Art Basel:
Shocking Exhibit Raises Awareness of Human Rights Crisis
Miami, FL (December 4, 2023) – This Art Basel week, prepare to be shaken. A powerful new exhibit, "Kidnapped from Israel: Milk Cartons Project", will confront viewers with the plight of innocent hostages held captive in Gaza by the terrorist group Hamas.
Giant, hyper realistic milk cartons, towering over 10 feet tall, are placed in prominent locations across Miami. Each carton bears the image of three hostages alongside the chilling label: "Kidnapped".
#DontLookAway
This provocative exhibit evokes the iconic image of the Milk Cartons that were a staple in every 80’s American household. The faces of kidnapped and missing American children were printed on them to help find and save the children.
The artists shared that “we had to put the idea on hold due to budgetary and logistical constraints. Instead we produced and printed the now worldwide recognizable kidnapped posters. Once we were able to gather the resources, the campaign returned to its original idea of printing the giant Milk Cartons highlighting the tragedy of the over 240 men, women and children ages 9-months to 85-years old who were kidnapped and taken hostage by Hamas on October 7th.” The Milk Cartons campaign has now launched and is currently displayed in various locations throughout Miami coinciding with Miami's Art Basel week. The exhibit will be ongoing and will move to different locations.
The “Kidnapped From Israel: Milk Cartons Project” is the brainchild of @DedeBandaid, @NitzanMintz and @TalHuber. It was brought to life by #LovingMomsUnited volunteers and generous sponsors all committed to bring attention to this humanitarian crisis and not let the hostages be forgotten. The exhibit aims to pierce the complacency of the international community regarding Hamas’ violent abduction of innocent civilians. These oversized cartons, symbols of childhood innocence corrupted by violence, will serve as stark reminders of the human cost of Hamas' brutality.
Beyond the Exhibit:
"Kidnapped from Israel: Milk Cartons Project" is not merely an art installation; it's a catalyst for action. QR codes on each carton will direct viewers to a dedicated website, offering comprehensive information about the hostages, the Hamas regime, and ways to get involved and take action.
